    7A engine won't start, only 1cyl fires

    Hello.

I own a Audi 80 B4 with 2.3 20v engine, it had a 2.8 V6 but I swapped it. I changed the whole engine wiring loom and everything seems to be in it's position. On the first day (3 weeks ago) it started and ran almost fine, now today I tried to start it but only the 3th cylinder fires. Touched the exhaust manifold and only one pipe was hot, the other ones were cold. Where should I start looking?

start with basics -check for the ground (earth) connections - should be one to the transmission bell housing ( stock is from the firewall mounted battery negative terminal). the ECU brown wires should be connected to the back of the intake manifold. Also check the distributor cap and ensure it is seated properly. Are the plug wires properly connected to the distributor and plugs? (if you look at the distributor, the order from about 7 o'clock is 1, 2, 5, 4, 3 clockwise direction). Are the other cylinders getting fuel? (pull spark plugs and look/smell for petrol).

Did you wash your engine off by any chance? The plug leads don't seal well and fill up with water...

All the ground connections should be good, after 30minutes of cranking the engine it finally started but it misfires a lot and runs like on 3 or 4 cylinders. Also should got no vacuum leakages. The only thing that is open is the oil sump breather? Don't know the word for that, can that cause this?

Have you plugged where the pipe from the crankcase breather goes into the intake hose?
