3b belt idler on oil pump. What holds it on

As title. Is it just a press fit? I'm tempted to tap the oil pump m8 and use a bolt to hold it?

It is a press fit, but I thought there was a retaining bolt too, I'd have to check through my pictures to be sure though.

def press fit - VERY tight when i last removed one. If you are throwing it away, you could try screwing an M10 bolt into the bearing and use the head end to get some grip on and wiggle. Penetrating fluid will also help.

New one is pulled into place by the small bolt previously mentioned.

Use the m10 bolt to press out the bearing otherways you can brake the oil pump.

Yep I see the idler has a m10 thread to pull it off. I need to look for the long m6 with washer to push the new one on.

Dont use that screw to push the mew roller in!!!
Has to go till the end without screw help!!!
You risk to fit the roller wrong( bent) and the belt will not stay straight!!

The diagram for the 200 20VT 3B oil pump is different than that for the S2 3B oil pump and shows a M6 x 62 bolt going through the idler.

maybe mine was really really stuck - i stripped an M10 bolt trying to use it to drive off the bearing. I can't see the problem with using the M6 bolt to pull the new one into place, cleaning out the recess in the pump with some wire wool/fine emery cloth will make it fit smoothly and as long as the bearing bottoms out in the recess it will be square. Two flat and square surfaces in contact with each can't be anything but square together!

The idler is a really tight fit. I've had trouble getting them out of the oil pump housing in the past. Lots of penetrating oil, some wiggling and lots of patience. I wouldn't try to pull the new one in with the M6 bolt. Not a great design.

NO!!! Don't do this..... the middle bolt is VERY thin and long, and NOT designed to pull the bearing into place. It will break, or strip the threads out the block.

The bearing has an M10 thread down the middle of it to aid removal (mine came out very easily), I'd suggest you pul an old scrap M10 bolt in this, and tap it home gently. If you hit the outer of the bearing with something, you risk ruining the bearing.
