Installing aftermarket camshaft with adjustable camgear

    Hello!
Just got some nice Catcams 100235 and a Tommis adjustable gear. Does anyone have experience of installing this, how to get them adjusted properly? I don't know how to figure out the right angles and how to find out the maximum possible adjustments on the camgear without the piston smashing the valves

Here's some data on the camshafts:

Hi, this is not easy task. Not for mechanic without some experience in this. Also as you can understand from datasheet, there will be problem with OEM valvesprings (probably on intake side). I dont know if its suggestion or requiry by catcams, you will need them different with suitable retainers for them. This is more important for you, now.

Yes the retainer springs and all that is already done, so i have harder ones than stock now. So basically my issue is just that I have the "span" on the adjustable camgear that is already defined. So my thought is to just install it to the center of that span and then adjust it for best performance on the dyno, but I just need to know if I can go all the way through that whole span without the valves hitting the pistons. But maybe it needs measuring somehow to see how much i can adjust the span. Maybe someone has done it before and has some knowledge about it?
This is the gear i'm using.

Very simply. If you are 100% sure, you have stock head(no mods, no different valves ect), then if you already have springs+retainers exactly the catcams items. Then you can put this camshaft on OEM pulley - on std mark(no adjustable pulley required on cam datasheet). And its better to check, if the zero span on tommis wheel gives you the same as std mark on oem wheel (simply, put OEM wheel on cam, make some marking somewhere to match std span, then pun on tommi wheel, and must match zero span on them).

But i feel that almost 3mm lift difference on inlet cam vs stock is notiecable. Some measuring(say checking reality) is essential.
