I try to keep track of the various AAN chips that are out there and I have never heard of MGEAR Chiptuning. A quick google on that only shows up people (typically BMW owners) with the same question "Anybody know these chips?". NO answers there either.

    Use at your own risk.

think its fair to say use any at your own risk. just because its unknown doesn't make it bad.

wideband, egt and boostgauge at the ready

I have an MGEAR stage3 chips sitting somewhere at home...used it for sometime a year ago and wasn't bad, with a 1,4bar boost chip. I bought it from a friend of mine in Canada (S. Rutledge). Consumption was OK but no idea about BHP/Torque it produces but he told be it was good for just over 300bhp and 350-370 lbs-ft all stock which I have some serious doubts about it.

        cheers,
        Fab.

Also had a bit of a session looking.

Seems to have been bought on Ebay by most that question them - as Dave says mainly BMW guys, but quite a few Vauxhall too (Opel).

Not really any definitive reports or reviews to be honest...

As mentioned, if you use them take as many precautions as possible - not sure I would be too keen myself, I think I would rather try and source something a bit better known or at least "tried and tested". Something with a good reputation from a reliable source - (homefries, etc)

Not to say these are bad... but hard to justify the risk if you ask me... (IMHO)

          Good luck

              That's good news!

Do you know if during the testing, any AFR or EGT numbers were recorded, or boost levels, fuel economy or such like?

I think would be useful to know for future if any more of these chips turn up...

Perhaps the Forum member who did the testing could post up his results?

every car is different thus generic is just that.

all maps and "chips" need risk assessment and testing with the proper equipment.

don't believe the label on the chip either. in the beginning nothing is tried and tested. just be subjective about what your expectations are.

when I first got vems I got slated from the forum for not having motronic mapped or using a homefry. now lots of those have gone vems. its kinda regarded as the no1 standalone for s2
