Quick question: is the rad the same regardless if the car is auto or manual?

Not the same. Automatic AAN rad has a oil cooler in it: 4A0121251C. The manual trans AAN rad has no oil cooler in it, PN 4A0121251A.
The C4 V6 auto rad was a 4A0121251M which was also used by the S6plus V8, in part because the S6 plus manual only transmission had a pump a to send the trans oil to the radiator to cool it.
The V8 UrS4 (ABH) and UrS6s (AEC) used a 4A0121251B which also had an oil cooler in it because the V8s came with either automatics or manuals with oil pumps for cooling the trans oil.
