Marco - the vag-com excel spreadsheet used to calculate power and torque takes into account Cx factor, rolling resitance, frontal area - at the end of the run, let the car slow down to the original starting speed logging the data - then the acceleration and decelleration figures have some sort of sum worked out on them.
Am I making sense? Is this good enough for what you want?
Ok,
I focused on rolling resistance only.
The drivetrain loss is the key. It suck power like a vampire.
It’s 50hp for drivetrain plus about 20hp for tire loss!!!
Damm, I’ll need 1,5bar boost at 7000rpm. :wacked:
I don't have a Vag-Com, Doug.
If you could do such a test for me (and others who may like to have same information) I would really appreciate.
Of course I'll wait for your monster car (actually monster #2, right behind Mark H. one ) to get on the road again.
I would like to have a drag curve for all the terms involved (mechanical+aerodynamical) from 200 km/h to zero (~124 mph to zero).
Marco,
Could you, if you have some time for fun , do those tests proposed at the yahoo rs2 list?
For who doesn’t know, it is from 100km/h to 200km/h in 5th gear. Drive the car to 100, wait for a second and push the pedal to the metal in 5th.
The other test is in 3rd, at 70. Hammer the pedal and set the chrono at 80 and measure 110 and 150, all in 3rd. Be aware to not cut off beyond 150 in 3rd .
All measures are taking from the speedo. The accuracy is not important it is only for comparison purpose.
Will your datalogger not log your decelleration from 200Kmh to 0 ?
Unfortunatly not. When releasing throttle and clutch after the run, the Gtech doesn't "feel" enaugh G-force anymore (unless you brake hard, then it will take stopping distances as well) so after 1-1.5 seconds stops the run automatically.
I may try in 5th gear to have a higher negative acceleration..... but then I'll be in the JAIL range of speeds

Following is my latest Gtech run.
Used 98 Ron fuel and Mihnea's stiffer spring, but I un winded the preload 5mm from original position, just to lower slightly peak boost and torque.
Still compared with original ADU and 340 Hp setup.
Marco
P.S. I couldn't save the file in GIFF format (Photoshop doesn't give me this option for that file), so quality of picture is still pretty ugly
Yeah, Mihnea.
I used 98 Ron fuel. Still willing to try the 100 Ron if I get a chance to find it.
About peak torque, my tests are taken in 3th gear so, by the mechanical + aerodynamical drag curve I found (roughly), peak torque should be in the range of 530Nm @ 4880 rpm at the flywheel.
