    Won't start

Pretty typical, was meant to take the car to the garage today for it's MOT on Weds. Completely dead when I tried to unlock so used the key. Nothing happened when I put the key in, no immobiliser light flashing (TOAD system) nothing.

Connected a digital jump pack for 10 mins plus and now the remote locking works and immobiliser OK. Batt voltage on dash showing 12v.

Key in - light come on, looks good... one more turn... a hoarse cough as the engine tries to turn over but doesn't manage it.

Car has been sitting for about a week but has usually been OK.

Do I have to call the AA on Monday?

Thanks, that's a possibility I suppose but I don't think the one in there is very old. I may be wrong.

Can any UK members recommend a vendor to get said battery, Halfords seems to come up with a blank when I enter the reg.

If it doesn't turn over then either the starter or the battery. I'm running Deta Senator batt's in my Audis.

Current batt is 12 months old so should be OK.

What's the CCA rating of the booster pack compared with the rating on the battery?!

Put it on charge overnight, that will rule out insufficent charge. If the battery is still low on power, take it back as they all come with a guarantee, most 2-3 years. Euro Car Parts is cheap enough for a battery. I would go for Bosch Silver, Varta or something of decent quality.

                        Alternative 1. Use jumper cables
Alternative 2. Push start the car
Alternative 3. Give the battery a proper charge

Agree with the above, sounds like the battery has eaten itself buy a battery trickle charger to maintain it. My car doesn't move over the winter battery is still good. ( watch it pack up now!!)
