Engine block code location

Hello can anybody help me find the engine /block code location s2 -96 on the head i found the code but should it be one at the block to?

I have a 3b and there is no engine no on the block, only on the head.
Not sure about the aby.

3B, AAN, ABY and ADU all on the head. I presume RR as well but I have never seen one (or a photo of one).

actually, a number on my 3b is vertical on the passenger side of the engine, the very back of it iirc.

i have taken pictures but i can only find them later tonight

The AAN engine manual says that is where the SN is on AAN but it is not. Alternative 3B photos would be helpful for the archives

that is exactly the same spot as my 200 20v 3b

please keep in mind that the last picture was taken with the camere upside down
it is easy to see the location in the first picture: you can see the back side of the cylinder head on the top and on the bottom you can see the exaust manifold

Here is a photo of a 3B head, showing the number stamped into the rear of the head, exhaust side, near cylinder 5, as per the AAN diagram.

BTW 3B 006366 was likely built in the first week of Sept. 1990 for a 1991 model year vehicle (S2 or 200 20VT)

it does indeed have it's first registration date in the reg documents of 01/10/1990 so September sounds reasonable.

01 (day) does not mean anything as it is always 01 on olders cars because days were not transfered to reg documents back in the day
