By 'new coils', do you mean standard coils or tfsi ones?

Sounds obvious but have you checked continuity with wiring plugs etc

Also check that the boots are trimmed if they are those ones to let the coil connect to the plug. I have a full set of stock coils but am in the process of converting to vems so can't help with part I don't think.

All wiring plugs checked etc all good.

When you say trim the boots do you mean the top part of a bit off the bottom ?? Thought you didnt need to trim them anyways??

I think depending on which coil you use, the top needs a wee trim so the plug contacts the coil when pushed in. It's been a while since I read any info on the conversation so I can't remember exactly what or if I'm talking S@#t.

Why are you posting the same problem in two different threads? This forum has the "bump" feature that brings the old thread to the front when you add a new post to the thread.

In the old thread I posted some info but never got a response from you.

"Did you attach both grounds of the new harness to the appropriate points (back of the cam cover and the intake manifold).

Did you install the harness connectors correctly? It is possible that you swapped them.

Should be based on these diagrams:

Your old POS wiring diagram to figure out the ECU harness colours for 1-3 and 4-5 (pull the boots back):

1.8T coil pack wiring for an AAN (make the required ABY translations):

The original 1.8T shorter coilpacks need some trimming of the hard plastic and the rubber seal to fit down properly on the plugs. IME, the later taller coil packs need no trimming. I am running the read 115Es now and they went in with no trimming whatsoever.

Hey fella, sorry didn't mean to cause offense.. Reason for the second post was looking for some local physical help and I thought a specific post would yield more success. And in reply to your information, many thanks, it allowed me to check the pins and wire colours etc along with the earth, so thank you.
I have the later 2.0tfsi coils so I'm assuming I don't need to trim. Thanks for your input.
