    Standard S4 AAN Boost levels

I hope someone can give me the answer to this, what should i see on the stock gauge (i know not the most accurate) as a maximum, right now i am getting 1.6bar. Car drives fine with no stumbling etc, but if i pull the dipstick or take the oil cap off it doesn't stall. I think i am missing boost somewhere, the michelin man hose i am gonna replace tomrrow as it looks as though it has some superficial cracks in it.

    Thanks

The old K-jetronic engines stall if you remove the oil cap. These 20vt engines don't tend to do that.

You are missing boost. A leak or some other failure so that motronic does not raise boost over the mechanically set level.

A standard S4 AAN can get from 1.8 up to 2.1 on the digital boost guage (depending on atmospheric conditions) if the overboost mode is working correctly which would suggest that yours has some kind of problem. First thing to check is the small hose going around the back of the engine to the ecu. The hoses blow off the plastic water trap for fun. If that is the problem then replace the standard crappy hose crimps with the screw type clamps!

yup done the water trap today with new clips, along with cleaned breather hoses and new clips, new michelin man hose going on tomorrow as it looks like i have one or two cracks in it. the car builds and holds boost fine but i think it's just a little short on where it should be, i live on the coast so altitude isn't really going to be a factor. any other pointers???

        Thanks
