I must check that is the 3B damper center part different size that AAN dampers center? As now when I look at the earlier pic, it seems to be smaller, about 75mm. AAN is something like 95mm.

Can someone take an exact measurement of the 3B center part, ID and OD? I would be greatfull, thanks.

This is how the trigger wheel looks on an AAN damper:

I am interested too in one of these... I can give you diameters of the ABY Damper today...

is this a myth or has anybody ever reported or measured issues by doing this?

The crankshaft is never moving in a steady speed because of the division of the rotation in 5 power strokes there is always a acceleration and a deceleration of the crank with every stroke. The damper has to eliminate these and keep it away from the auxiliaries.

So would this not result in a smoother rpm on the outer pulley than on the center?

Ok, the twist between outer and inner may result in a different ignition timing but can this be that much?

        (just brainstroming ;-) )

Your timing needs to follow the crank (smoothly or not) - I would think - or else big big damage can happen

Well ... as I understand it (that's why in our case it's on the flywheel).

            Cheers

Is the 69mm ID or OD of the inner part? How thick is the wall?

Hmm, so the ABy version is different to the 3B/7A version. Andys pic shows an ~160mm total diameter.

The inner piece with the key is recessed back slightly from the grey ring, you can see the chamfer.

Any idea of how deep in the center hub is? 2mm, 4mm?

Why not just drill a few holes in the trigger wheel to plug weld to the face of the inner damper body

Yes, thats a good idea on the 3B/7A version, if the gray part is solid with the inner hub..?

there is a groove in the iron so the wall is 6.8mm

                                Black, really good pics, thanks.

Can someone confirm that is the 3B/7A damper "gray"(middle section) part solid with the hub?

This is a smaller size trigger gear for 3B/7A, 172mm in diameter with a 120mm center hole to reduce weight and it would be easy to weld on the "gray" middle part of the damper.
