For the second time in my RS2 ownership its coming up time to replace the cambelt water pump etc.
Audi Tradition currently stocks both the water pump and the cam belt but the prices have sky rocketed. x2 the price for the cambelt and x4 for the water pump.
Looking at my options I can:
1) Suck it up can purchase the ADU parts
2) Purchase the ADU cambelt and an ABY water pump and put my ADU pulley on it
3) Go full ABY set up.
What do you think is the best option? My RS2 is daily driven and I do around 20,000kms a year.
I have a couple of questions.
1) If I went the ADU cambelt with ABY water pump fitted with ADU pulley is this 100% reliable?
2) If I went a full ABY set up what timing do I run? Factory ABY (S2) or ADU (RS2). Also will the car still perform like it should?
3) Was it stupid for Audi/Porsche originally configuring the timing different for the ADU in the RS2? Was it that important that the water pump turns that much faster? In testing did they think, no no, the ABY pump isn't good enough . . .
