    Bosch 580 254 023 fuel pump

Any reason I shouldn't be using this in tank fuel pump ? :

    Bosch 580 254 023

    instead of the well known

    580 254 044
    or
    580 254 040

    Ease of installation ?

    Incompatibility ?

    Specific specs ?

Flow rate and dimensions seem fine.

    Cheers

Based on the underwhelming response, you have to conclude that nobody has tried one. Flows less than a 044 at the same pressure. We need big pressures if you are boosting 26 psig (1.8 Bar) over the 4 Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator, i.e. total of 5.8 bar (so even less actual flow than the stated 5 Bar flows. 044 is tried and true. Both need a 60 mm basket to install in the tank. Can only see downsides, no upsides.

      BTW "Open base" means this:

I have a Coupe, do I already have a 60mm basket? In that case open base is desirable compared to the 044?
I thought this one had better flow then the stock one.

What are the stock figures for 3b and 7a (which I thought had the same pump).

        Cheers

Why do you need more flow than stock? What did I miss? What year coupe quattro? Even better what is the build date on the Transport Canada door sticker?

            I have a coupe with 3b engine.
I'm installing a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, etc...
            It'a 1990 90 CQ (pre-march 1990 they say).

Like trying to squeeze blood from a stone

              "Pre-March 1990 they say" isn't very precise.

What are the last 6 numbers in the VIN? There is a VIN breakpoint that will help tell you whether the fuel pump gasket is 60 mm or 43 mm. The Bosch Motorsport pumps are 60 mm.

Or you could look in the fuel tank.

                  Hmmm.....

LA006912 was the end of October 1989 = 1990 model year, but not "pre-March"

MA006357 was the end of November 1990 = 1991 Model year.

The breakpoint is LA030000. = 895906089E, no mention of pump diameter and an internet search on 895906089E isn't conclusive regarding the size.

From MA 000001 forward the pump was 8A0906091G which is spec'd as 43 mm.

8A0906091G is the UrS4 and UrS6 and S2 Coupe and avant 43 mm pump. Good for about 360 hp on an RS2'd and chipped UrS4 for example.

040 flows about the same as a stock pump.
                    I recommend newer Walbro pumps...

                      Thanks Dimitri

The 023 seem to have better flow than the 040. The thing is, I already have a 60mm basket, so fitting a 43mm is more (a little more) of a hassle. Anyways, I bought the 023. I guess I should be good for 280-300hp ?

Also, how much are your AAN chips for k24 7400 setup ?

                      Cheers

                        Found this :

7a stock pump bosch equivalent is 0 580 254 031 (as far as the info I found on it) for the OEM 895906089E.

                        0 580 254 023 flows more at 6.5 bar and just a little less than an 044.

I guess, I'll have to let you guys know what happened with the one I bought

                        Cheers
