hello all,
This evening i was fitting a new crank shaft seal to an oil pump (034 115 109) and i thought that there was something amiss with the pressure relief valve...
This pump came off a spare running engine that i am currently re-building, i didn't do many more miles than driving the car onto the trailer and then punting it back and forth on the drive before the engine came out and as far as i remember all seemed well.
Is it me or is the spring and pressure relief piston the wrong way round? This is how it came out of the car.
With it this way round would it affect the oil pressure by allowing it to rise too high or would it not get high enough? I'm not sure how the valve works and whether it needs to give something for the pump to push against to build pressure or not.
I'm going to swap the bits round.
How do you check an oil pump for wear and will the be any figures 'anywear'
to compare against?
