    K24 7400 with #6 Porsche hotside

HI there, I'm in the process of installing a k24 7400 into a 90 CQ with a 3b engine (swapped).

    I have the k24 7400 from a 2004 Volvo S60R and a Porsche 944 turbo (1988 IIRC) #6 from a K26.

Well after a few reads here and there, I thought that this was the hotside I needed ... well it doesn't fit. The exducer portion of the turbine touches the wall of the hotside ... by a few thousands ... My brother's a machinist and will have a look at it tomorrow ... meanwhile I thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention as there might be slim differences within the 944 turbo models. There might also be some peeps here that know about this and know it is machinable.

Another fact though, Is that I ordered this from a scrapyard which claimed it was removed from that model car. It is stamped #6, it is KKK flange. So I assume it is from the believed model though I haven't seen nor removed it myself.

Here's a pic of the "not so hot" side.

    Cheers

      Thanks for the info !

So since there are no letters at the end of the part#, it won't fit...

Machining a k24 hotside, meaning the stock one from the k24 7000 ?

Also, does the angle/curve between the exducer and inducer needs machining as well or it is only the exducer portion that needs oversizing ?

      Cheers

yeah, the stock k24 7000 hotside
both need to be machined a bit.

You are trying to re-invent the wheel. After you've looked at varia's excellent photos, you might want to also PM Ruffiano (aka Hybrid Hatch) for his insights since he probably has the most experience with the K24-7400 on an Audi 20VT engine.

I'll chime in. I ran the hotside listed by Chris (Varia), i had very good results, but after running it i found out that while it fit the exducer VERY Well, the profile didn't match the turbo completely. If I were to do it again, i would go the k24 hotside machined to fit.

              Thanks for the input.

I assume a machined #6 would do as well ?

              Thanks
