    Blowing throttle body hose off

Anyone got a link for a good wide clip to hold my throttle body samco on? Keep on blowing it off and to be fair my clip is a skinny one.

An oem hose or a URS4 throttle body (which is wider) is the only cure I ever found for this.

I've had this issue recently and just resolved it. There isn't enough width on stock S2 throttle body to go for a wider clip so you need to use one about 6-7mm if I recall. That is just right and it is hard to get it adjusted just so in my experience.

I did mine with the throttle body off the car, granted it was very difficult to get the throttle body back on the car with the hose already in place but it is airtight now

IIRC there is an issue with the Samco hose not being quite long enough either?
As Colesy said the AAN throttle body has a longer spigot on it so worth trying to find one.

The Roose item I have fits perfectly and cost about ÂŁ20. It's also a good match and can be ordered without logos. Cheaper than a new throttle body

This morning I decided to have another go at fixing the hose issue, I took it off, got the brake cleaner out and cleaned the pipes, throttle body and samco hose. Oil had caused a lack of slip friction, when that was sorted it now stays on

I should have mentioned that on my side of the pond, we tend to use Breeze Constant torque band clamps when installing Samcos.

Thanks for the heads up, I do love a good clamp! Think I might be buying some of those.

A wider clip is much worse than a more narrow clip.
A narrow clip excerts much more force on the area. If you have a 2x wider clip the surface area is 2x bigger, so to get the same tension you have to torque it 2x harder (which is not feasible) bringing you back to square 1.

Get an ABA clamp. They can be torqued to ridiculous strength. They do not stretch and do not give with time unlike fully metal clamps.

We always use these in critical places.

Also Norma Torro CT are very reliable:

                      http://www.norma.net.au/products/hos...on-hose-clamps

They are used in 3,0 TDI from factory.

I had issues with samco hose on compressor outlet. This clamp solved it.

Try spraying a little hairspray (& letting it dry) onto the TB before fitting the hose. It makes the interface a little tackier so the hose is less likely to pop off

This is a good trick (honestly, you don't have to wait for it to dry before fitting - it works as a lubricant when wet and an adhesive once dry...) just make sure the surfaces are really clean.

I've used hair spray for years to fit new rubber grips on motorcycles...
