    S2 3b g4 sensor issue

    Hi

Just a quick question to gain some knowledge. i have a non start and no spark with fault code 00514 no signal from G4 sensor! Am I correct in assuming that the G28 Crank sensor is not reading the same pin as G4.....and has anyone a diagram of said flywheel pin or pins

    Thanks

Take out the starter and see if you spot the reference pin on the engine side of the flywheel.

From memory it's a thin looking pin on the 3B and more of a sturdy lump on ABY.

Also check that you have G4 and G28 sensors attached to correct plugs.

Was the car a good runner before - what has changed ?

Click on the link below and then on the G4/G28 label on the right side. (This link is part of the monthly reminder list that I post, well, bump, every month. You might have missed it).

There is really good info above - just be aware it is C4/AAN centric and won't line up 100% with a 3B motor in the B3.

And that reminded me - you should be able to see the crank reference pin for G4 through the bell housing window - no need to remove starter motor unless you need to weld on a new pin - you won't be the first.

Agree. It was based on AAN but I have tried to add ABY and ADU info where needed. I have added some 3B info in there as well but less than 100%

Massive massive thankyou guys .....my starter broke the nose cone while it failed seemed to throw the gear right out and broke so i am guessing this has damaged or left debris on G4 ...... so this info is superb
