Hose clamps - any BTDT and tips here ?

Hallo,

As cheap hose clamps started to irritate me, I've searched local suppliers for more reliable clamps. They offer two desings (picture attached).

Can someone share his expierence, which one is better and why. Also are there any tips using clamps on rubber and silicone hoses. As far I understand I want clamps to be as wide as possible, and strong as possible. I've heard, that silicone hoses use special clamps, what are they ?

Any other tips how to secure hoses to make them not to blow from turbo in the middle of nowhere ? First thing which came to my mind, that I need to put wd40 before tightening the clamp, just to make it slid on the hose, and thus to make tightening more equal around the hose. What do you think about that ?

You should check out the Adel Wiggens clamps Hacke mentioned. They are used in aviation applications. Very nice. Very pricey.

I use the hose clamps on the left in your picture!!! They are very good and strong and i have NEVER had one come off. They come in a very limited size range, like 60-65mm etc etc.

i must admit the hose clips from audi are rubbish they bend too easily and just when you get to the point of thinking it's about tight enough they click and can't be tightened any further, one of my local car accesory shops sells genuine jubilee clips and they are great, i can tighten them up so tight they won't go anymore and they have a thicker band too, the other make worth finding is norma.
