So... put 10 old ones back in on inlet side. Kept the crappy new ones on the exhaust side. Not for any particular reason though.

Took some photos of new vs old. I can't begin to explain how utter tosh the new INA ones are compared to the originals which came out...

The hole is smaller, as is the channel running round the circumference, also the insides aren't as substantial... just to confirm, the $h1te INA one is not a lightweight version. How bad must they be...???

I have never seen lifters like your old ones. Are you sure they are INA brand? Strange though the new ones didn't work properly longer than that..?

Not sure if the originals are INA , they are OEM for sure as the engine had never been apart before I dismantled it...

I'll have a closer look and see if there are markings anywhere...

Still disgusted with the new versions...

Originals have no markings on them anywhere. No idea of the manufacturer...

Very complicated inside, but beautifully made... attached a pic.

I thought there was a pic of an INA one dismantled on the forum somewhere but I can't find it. Will take one of the rubbish ones apart tomorrow...

So, to complete the thread, engine is now quiet and back to normal...

Attached is the inside of the INA lifter, the casing is really poor quality compared to the original...

                Could they be counterfeit parts?

Actually, I guess it is possible...
Here is a close up of the inner piston. Very pitted... poorly made for sure...
