We have new law here now, you can tune and modify EURO2 cars/engines quite free. EURO3 and up then need a full emission test in a car laboratorium(VTT) so the emissions don't exceed the orginal limits of the engine, this cost XXXX euros.

In my case the engine goes as "self made"(N/A I5 with turbo) and can have max 20% more power than in the orginal engine. Of course the basic emissions are measured at the registration MOT and are not allowed to exceed a sertain limit. Catalytic converter is needed.

Why would it be classified as N/A I5 with turbo? AAN is turbocharged from the factory. Wouldn't it be classified as such?

        HI!
The NM (2.0l 20v) power is that 160hp. The 7A power is around of 175hp (I don't remember exactly)
Them... U can homologate with an 7A, and not with the V6 engine

Yes, it's of course an AAN engine, but it's classified as "self made" as I have to restrict the power and also much parts are not orginal, like turbo, exhaust manifold, injectors, ecu, etc. etc.

Okay, so, you're looking to classify it as a N/A engine based on fact that your MOT doesn't recognize the S2 avant/sedan as a part of Audi 80 lineup right? If yes, then I understood you.

What if you present them with the VIN numbers of the S2 cars, as opposed to the regular 80's? The VIN numbers will contain the same identifying codes for both (factory, model year, number etc.). Wouldn't that be a chance to convince them that S2's are part of the regular 80's lineup?

Yes, but then again I must swap suspension from a S2 sedan, really hard to get those parts. Lots easier this way.

Running spring boost, it feels horribly slow so more than likely less than 7A

Will they really be taking the car that far apart to check if the wheel bearings are 82mm for example? Or the diameter of the shocks? The obvious parts are out of the question ofc.

No, but you may have to show them documents, receipts, pics, etc. some proof that you have changed the parts. They are now quite strict about these and some MOT station can be little too strict and hard because the law itself is a little bit unclear at some parts. Propably they won't demand to change hubs and bearings, but struts and springs are needed, and of course brakes etc.

European Audi 80 VINs only tell you that the car was made in Germany, that it is an Audi 80 and that it was made in Ingolstadt. The actual VIN number were sequential and contain no information that can be interpreted by a non-Audi employee with a computer connection to the master VIN list.

Something like this list of 1993 Audi 80 models with engine, transmission and rear axel codes might help (or not). The ABY engine code is stamped on the head and an ABY head can be attached to an AAN short block and the engine magically becomes an ABY. Just sayin'..
