  • broken stud on turbo...

I'm in the process of returning my car to stock..

I couldn't get the RS2 exhaust manifold off as the tool I made to do up the troublesome nuts was useless at undoing them.

So after 2 hours of trying, I ended up leaving it in place

Then when I had put the stock turbo back on, I sheared off one of the M6 studs on the top - where the oil pipe attaches.

Has anyone replaced this stud before? is it an easy job?

-I've never had this happen to me before so have zero experience of repairing/replacing damaged studs..

Where has it sheared? Is it below the surface?
any pics? If you do manage to get it out you can just use an M6 caphead instead. I have.

It sheared off level with the oil pipe, so there is ~5mm proud..

I'm going to try to unscrew it with some pliers or a mole grip or whatever I can get in there..

If that doesn't work, I'm also going to buy a stud extractor kit and drill holes in it etc..

I was thinking that once I have it out, I'd use an M6 caphead instead of putting in another stud to break..

You can, but DONT get anything in the oil feed hole!! Otherwise the turbo is toast. If you get metal bits in there, its game over. Just be very careful and unscrew the stud and then use any M6 bolt.
