Best place for oil catch can sump return?-opinions

As the title states I'm trying to build a catch
with a return line vs. a drain. I would like for
it to return the oil back into my sump. My question
is where would be the best place to weld a fitting
for the return line. Looking for opinions on whether
it be on the oil pan or somewhere else. TIA

Jp reckons you need it at or near the front of the sump. My urs4 is connected back to the sump plug.

034 makes an adapter that goes between the turbo oil drain and the block. You could fab one or try your luck and see if they still have or make it.

Do you collect enough oil that you need to return to sump? I would rather not as its going to be mixed with a lot of water vapor from cold starts.

The 034 one is crap. Its for like 5mm hose. You need at least 12mm.

You can pump out a pint of clean oil after a few rash starts and a hard drive. Makes sense to get it back into the sump. Any water vapour will boil off. Not an issue unless you live someplace real cold.

Yikes, i must drive like a granny in that case

I installed a catch tank about 1k miles ago and its caught **** all. Maybe the added breather hose routing stops the oil before it gets that far.

@ringbearer, thanks for the idea. I'll
rig up a -an Y fitting with my turbo return
                  lines. They're steel braided anyways.

For those with it at the plug you guys don't
have problems with the oil sloshing back up
                    the hose?

How much oil does your catch can collect? I only see a little bit white fluid and some crap. No need to drain back if you're setup is right I think.

i have made a return comming from my mann provent catch can but actually i have never had oil return needed because of a good crankcase ventilation
and no,never had oil comming from the sump in the catch can but it is placed as high as the brake master cilinder

Taken from the normal breathers mine collected nothing but water vapour in normal road use, however on track you could fill it in a few laps, hence alternative breather locations or a return drain.

                              After driving various modded cars
I've owned with catch cans I experienced
the catch can or tank will full up over
time with oil and yes vapor. I would always
have to unplug the drain at the bottom of
catch can and catch the oil & vapor into
cup oil container. Oil does build up especially
if you drive your car hard.
