Odd error reading on my display

    Hi all,

I recently have been having some issues with my central computer display with the latest issue being this random number appearing upon start up.

It will go away after say around a minute of driving but no longer can I toggle through the various readings.

I believe this has something to do with the fact that my AC has recently started leaking condensation into the passenger floor-well and it's proximity to the ECU.

    Anyone know what this is?

    Thanks,
    Sasha

With a little more searching it appears as if the Autocheck function that you can access by holding the Trip Computer reset button through the startup sequence appears to be constantly coming on even though I'm not pressing it. Besides it always coming on it appears that the trip computer is no longer getting the fuel usage signal from the ECU and I'm getting the aF code. Could the wire be corroded from the water? I don't want to open up the ECU to see if it did get wet.

    Any insights?

    Thanks,
    Sasha

      Maybe the switch is sticking/dirty?

You don't get that code showing if there is no fuel usage signal from the ecu.

I'm with Yell man - more likely a switch problem

I wonder if it's sticky / dirty at the stalk versus something at the ECU. The only reason I say this is because I've had a little condensation dripping into the passenger footwell via a leaky AC and this issue only emerged once that started. That and the aF error is telling me that the ECU isn't sending the fuel consumption data to the trip computer. I get the KMs to empty but nothing else. More here:

"Note that you may encounter an 'aF' code at this step if the fuel usage signal from the ECU is not detected by the Autocheck / Trip computer. More details to follow as and when I get it..."

I'll give it a go in trying to clean the stalk nonetheless.

            Thanks!
