Car is not well again. The turbo doesnt make the same noises that it used too Also doesn't go very well anymore. But it is still making some boost as i can hear the dump valve. Time to get the boost gauge out and check the turbo bearings. Its not smoking.

I ahve got the worst luck or what. Some as one problem is mended another one comes up and bites my ***! S2 is starting to piss me off now. Its been 2 years of "Oh, its broken again". All my customers at work take the piss everytime they see it in the workshop in bits

have you done marks intercooler o-ring mod tom, mine blew mid way through a tuning session with mihnea but sorted it now.
(mihnea, boosting to 1.5 now so wont alter w/g spring till get better intercooler sorted)

Yeah done that 'Mark' mod. Cant see anything obvious on the split hose side of things. Checked the boost pressure, gauge only goes to 1.5 bar, but it went off scale. So its boosting. But the car got worse over the week. Now its gutless which is what makes me think its a hose split.

Gonna try a WGFV off a friends Ibiza 20vt, maybe that little ******. also will check for fault codes.

is the turbo warbling under load as it spools up?

Mins does this a bit and now I am getting a bit of white smoke puffing on start up. I think the turbo is on its way out even though it pulls through to 1.4bar nicely enough......

That noise is now gone, but a loud wooshing noise is heard. Gonna wind the wastegate back off a few turns to see if thats makes the boost drop. It may be trying to reduce boost pressure, but cant

Trying another WGFV tonight. Will post results later.

@Mihnea, check car with Bosch KTS and it makes contact with ECU now Also runs at about 1% CO which seems high for a Lamda eqipped car ? Would have expected about 0.5-0.6%. But it may have been due to this prob, that emissions are higher than normal.

Just a thought m8 - you haven't split the wastegate diaphragm thingy have you??? You know the one, if you unscrew the greeny coloured top off the wastegate - could that cause a whoosh if pressure is escaping?

Checked all hoses and WG diaphragm, all OK. No splits or holes. Put my WGFV on a friends car and his drove like a piece of *****. Making 6 psi boost!!!! And we know that it used to work on his car as he blagged it not long ago!

Was it a new/newish one Tom? Is high boost casuing these to fail?

Nah, it was the original one. Made in 1991 and covered 147k miles. So fairplay to it. Poor thing.
