Anyone used a Plex Knock Monitor?

I just got myself a new toy - Plex V1 Knock Monitor.
They just brought out a V2 so I got this earlier unit for a steal.

It's a great piece of kit for tuning:
DSP, adjustable knock threshold across the RPM range, ignition input for individual cylinder knock count, 2nd order harmonic detection, analogue outputs for logging & ignition retard.

Looking forward to having a play

Looks a nice bit of kit Alex. Maybe a silly question, does it use the stock sensors or one of its own?

It has it's own Bosch sensor but it can use an OEM one.
Obviously Motronic has onboard factory configured knock control which is unbeatable, but it's still a great tool for audio detection when tuning.
The per cylinder knock count means you can see what is going on if you can't see the Matrix like Dmitri

Where did you find that? Looks like a useful bit of kit.

Don't forget to report back when you've used it

Does the maxxecu setup not come with knock control then?

Nope, no knock control on the Maxx. But possible to use something like this to trigger ignition retard

It's a nicely put together piece of kit, aluminium casing and the wiring harness is Raychem and Spec 44 wire.

Andy I got it from Damian at Daytuner, he was "upgrading" to a V2 unit. Great guy, if you want one he will sort you out. But the Euro exchange rate means they are proper expensive right now.... £850
I paid less than half for his ex demo unit

Let us know how you get on

I had a phormula ks4 for a few years with limited success, I tried integrating the 0-5v input to my ecu but more often than not it was pulling timing with no knock.

Will do. It needs the rpm based threshold to work properly. I guess your engine is quite noisy anyway with big boost and mechanical valve train?

I have V2 for few months. Also have KS Pro(possible for a sale) , but im not as much skillfull with it. Double check (hear+see) on Plex is a must for me.
Using adapter to rpm trigger from injector1 (easiest source) but it makes errors on overr run fuel cut and sometimes on high rpm. So if you have to play just on your car, i suggest rev counter signal at least.
I have 2.5 stroker with mechanical lifters, still motronic ecu, using M8 screw on top of the block and for a test runnign now on cheap 95oct petrol.

Why not use the trigger for cyl 1 coil-pack?

You can try of course, potentialy best source, just i have some problems(trigger errors) with it on another car, didnt test in on audi yet. But i assume you have different ecu anyway. Im trying to utilize self made adapters for not hardwiring => damaging wiring harness &quick instalation.
