    s2-rs2 pistons and rods.

    Hi,

Just a quick question to find out what sort of power s2 pistons and rods can take? From what I have read theres a few differences between s2 pistons and rods, did they have stronger internals in later models? Any information of rs2 rods and pistons?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I broke my rods just 220hp but on dyno, and aroud 3300rpm, it is not the power, it is the torque that kills, safe limits are 330hp~500nm if you get to spool and produce good enough, but making more power to the top end you can produce 400hp no prob.

the pistons are good for 500hp range.

        Disclaimer:
these are factory staff, made to last, some safetyfactors, margins, but they dont take same kind of beating and mis use as quality race parts

and when you need ask these questions you need better rods, there is no point to drive at the limit. btdt.

Many people have been using the stock rods with RS2 setups no problem.

Think that stock rods + MInhea chip + RS2 setup will provide 360-370 hp and close to 600nm of torque and they hold well in all cars.

Lots can check with you as they have monster setups, but I will talk to Marco (Pisobiker) that has runned for a time the ABY engine with RS2 parts and 370bhp on stock rods.

Think that ABY and ADU rods are the same so they have to hold well RS2 power + a nice safety barrier.

          Cheers
PS Piston don't need to change unless going mental, they are very very strong

Cheers guys. I should have mentioned that this isnt for an Audi, its for my mk2 Gti. I just wanted to clarify if they would be able to hold down 350hp safely. The s2/rs2 engines basically the same as the vw 1.8 16v with an extra cylinder.

In my mind the fuelling counts for a hell of a lot, as long as it doesnt run lean i should be ok.

p.s I got two mates who own an Audi s2 and Rs2 and believe me the s2 is good fun. The RS2 is running I think 380bhp is mental. Trying to hold it straight when you give it some is another story.

Thanks again for all the help.
