    500 BHP+ Questions

I've a few questions to those which have the know-how in this area:

    1) What is the best type and heat range of spark plug for this bhp?

    2) Maximum bhp on the standard crank?

    3) We have a small oil weep on the front right corner between the block and head (after putting a new steel gasket, on a bought forged engine build). What should be done with this?

    Thanks for any advice.

    1) What is the best type and heat range of spark plug for this bhp?

7 or 8, but will depend on the plug you go for. NGK are popular, BKR7EIX or BKR8EIX.

    2) Maximum bhp on the standard crank?

    1000hp or more.

    3) We have a small oil weep on the front right corner between the block and head (after putting a new steel gasket, on a bought forged engine build). What should be done with this?

If the leaks not too bad, live with it and clean the leaked oil. If it's bad, take the head off, get it checked/surfaced, check the block seating surface and treat as required, refit with new gasket/bolts, etc.

Pics if we've not already see it!?

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

      4) We've got ordinary 1.8T coil packs, and the red R8 type. What bhp are these suitable for? We've also got the option of these http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motors...-ignition-coil
What would be the pick of this lot?

      5) The head uses the standard lifters, 7A cams, and the engine has had a new oil pump. We were wondering would it stand 8K RPM for brief periods? What would be the first component of the engine to take hurt?

Some pics! :-) Originally this buggy had a homefries chip, but that wasn't enough.

Here is a video with the old engine - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVWpZ9grPWU

Wouldn't look out of place in a madax movie, and I bet it's mad to drive being so light.

Thanks for the comments, this project has been evolving for a while - better brakes, wider tyres, power steering, extra radiators, redesigned front, new engine and turbo, link ecu, etc. The original thread should be somewhere on this forum. The buggy is in (East) Belfast

It's pretty mental, but we've said that before and then become used to it. That's probably the most mental part - it becomes the new norm.

We also have a Subaru based buggy, it's a lot more docile compared to this Audi one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNUxoDKDWxI

Could you do any track days with them?

Yes, we've been to Nutts Corner and Aghadowey for a scorch, but it's almost more about the engineering than anything else.
