radiator fan running when cold?

my audi s2 aby avant from 95 is being weird and old audi like.

today i noticed that when i startet the engine the radiator fan startet running?

its not running when ign is off.

it ran for som time with engine on but then it stops and follow the normal heat cycle?

im thinking that the coolant fan switch is bad?

or could i be wrong?

a little update.
seem like the fan is only running if i turn the heater blower on inside the car? a/c has been removed and there is no a/c relay.

fan stop when nr3 relay is removed. when relief relay is removed or when fuse nr 17 is removed?

tryid to unplug sensors on the block one at a time but did not do anything

tryid to remove plug from the fan switch but it keeps running hvem engine is on? no blown fuses in fuse box...

any ideas?

You have to remove on wire behind the ac display ..

Its just odd cuz the ac gas been removed for a long time and the fan did not start

That could be due to the resistor pack going bad. There's a resistor pack in the circuit to the fan that is used for regulating the voltage (and so the speed) of the fan.
When it goes bad, it short circuits internally and the fan starts to behave weird. For me, it would go off any more.
On my left hand drive Audi it was on the left inside of the bumper.

Wil try to test fan switch later today and check tje resistor pack
And have a look at the a/c heater display

Its the climate one u know lile the older a4 with the nr display in one side and where and how much air in the other

OK then easiest way is find the T5g green 5 pin connector by the relay panel under the dash, and remove the brown/black wire from pin 2

Sooo found out this today
If i pull the plug out of the clima unit then it stops running.
But it got some down side to it. When i turn on the light the light slowly goes out in the clima display and the outaide temp does not work...

The one error said did not work or maybe i did it wrong
