    Freeze plug diameter

    Hi folks!

Wanted to ask, has anyone measured the diameter of the coolant plug in the block for turbo? I can't get my hands in there to measure without disassembling the whole left half. My coolant pressure pipe is kinda old and leaking. Want to fabricate something for it so that I could forget about the leaks there. New pipe is kinda costly - 110 euros from AT.

    Coolant plug:

So why not buy a new aftermarket plug as a blank for that job?
There are two diameters there according to the catalog: 36,6 and 38mm. Both types of plugs are avaliable cheaper than 1 euro.

PS: OEM 035103111B is not NLA and it costs about 17euros ordered in any normal parts store at us.

Perhaps I wasn't being clear enough. I need the pipe, not the plug.

My idea is that I'll cut the rubber part of the pipe off, weld some more meat on it and just stick a hose on the pipe and on the plug. That's why I was asking about the diameter of the plug, so that I know what hose i'll need and how much to fatten the aluminium pipe.

Weld an -AN connector onto a plain 36.6 freeze plug and convert the rest to braided hose.

Thanks! I'll think about how I want to do it. What is the plug replacement procedure?
