    feeling happy with spare engine :-)

    I've done nearly 2500miles now on a 7A engine I rebuilt this year and put in my CQ20v, all is well but something is clearly not right with my head... I seem to have got the bug for buying spares as and when they crop up!

    I recently picked up a fairly complete 7A engine and have been pulling the ancillaries off it and having a quick check over to see how it is.

    Apart from being obviously oil tight, i reckon it is good one and someone has clearly spent some money on it.

    Imagine my joy when i noticed it had a fresh looking set of 8mm Magnecor leads, the 034 injector upgrade and what appears to be a very nicely done job of gas flowing the cylinder head! (pics show a standard port for comparison)

    I've already got the injector upgrade so they are surplus to requirement and the leads are currently showing just how bad my old ones were (the coil lead was the original 26 yr old item) and i reckon in spring i will be swapping the head over

    Happy Christmas!

      probably not going to be this year.

      I wasn't expecting to find what I did so don't have a head gasket set, head bolts or all the other stuff to hand right now! I will wait till new year as postage is a bit iffy at the mo'

              I think 90% of this forum has the "hoarder syndrome" caused by three little letters "NLA". BTW, nice score.

                  @ruffiano - NICE garage!

                  Darryl, engine seems alright - 2500 miles in and oil pressures are good, I would have liked to have seen a bit more compression though - it may still be bedding in but last time I checked it about a 1000 miles ago it was only 9.5 bar hot. Still, that is more than the 8bar of the original engine and the 9.5 is bang on the same across all cylinders

                    I agree, but do you think it's as LOW as 90%?

                      Big mistake posting a photo like this as loads of guys now pouring over it to see what you have and might be persuaded to sell!

                        Well thats just the workshop, the garage is through the doorway there at the end. Everything in my garage has a price, its always a question of who is willing to pay it
