DAMN DAMN & DOUBBLE DAMN

Hi all.
Well i found myself in a predicament last week,i was overdue my MOT and my road tax was imminent.I booked in for an MOT,it failed on handbrake and O/S CV gaiter being split
The work had to be done,like instantly,for the road tax,anyway as they were doing the work,i gave them the Blue top mounts to fit,the oil and filters to change.
On collecting the supposedly finished car,driving home i noticed the rear caliper which,had been changed was binding rather badly,worse still within half a mile in traffic she started to overheat,usually never goes over 90 deg,and if so the fan kicks in straight away.On getting home i tried to get any airlock out of the system but it just bubbles over furiously,never seen this before,needless to say its going back tomorrow,i aint happy as its been running like a dream since i fitted some of my Samco's and they were'nt meant to touch the engine anyways(other than change the oil).
What type of antifreeze is meant to be used in a S2?

P.S. The moral of this story is dont forget your MOT date and end up in a hurry like me or you will have to let some reputable clots wreck your car.

am getting prepared for my mot now ,have booked into longlife for new exhaust but have a few mot questions myself.

1 one of my headlight washers has gone ,just completely disappeared
2 only one of my rear fogs is working ( that is assuming there should be two working)
3 have a side repeater fallen off
4 one of the lenses on my headlight is cracked


are any of these likely to cause a fail, and these are just the things i can see.dread to think whats going on underneath

sorry thats not a fog light not working its a reversing light

rob, sorry to hear of your mot troubles.

coolant wise i think you'll need 3 x coolant G12 1.5l, i changed mine about a month ago and had about half a bottle left. got mine from the stealer.

I think no reversing lights may well be a bone of contention,possibly the side repeater,how badly cracked is your headlight? hairline(pass) or hole(fail i think)i dont think the others are a problem,im sure someone will reply who knows for sure.
P.S. on my failure sheet there is no mention of any of your specific faults next to the tick boxes.

Depends if your using an aux rad, obviously it will take more, i used two bottle in a 50/50 mixture and then had a 3rd for top up when i changed my rad, but i dont have an Aux Rad

1) Thats a bone of contention, if they're present they both need to work AFAIK
2) Thats fine, by U.K law only the rear drivers side fog light needs to work
3) Bone of contention AFAIK
4) Not a problem, mines cracked and so was the one on my old car never had a problem. (i have got a new glass just haven't got round to changing it yet!)

I think it will pass with a cracked head light as long as they can get a beam pattern, if it interupts the pattern too much it will fail, BTDT!

Doesnt need reversing lights for an mot, as long as the pattern is ok it will pass on the headlight.....

1 headlight washers are not part of your MOT so can not fail
2 you have to have a off side rear fog lamp (the rest are not part of the test)
3 if you have a white bulb it will fail (fit an amber bulb if you can't get a lens in time)
4 if the beam image is ok it will pass
