    AAN engine, no oil pressure.

    Hello to all,

Yesterday I tried to pump oil in to my engine and get the oil pressure, before I will start engine.
Engine is freshly rebuilded. Tried 4 or 6 times to pump oil by starter and no oil pressure.
Screwed oil temperature sender from oil pump and put some oil in it, thought that it is to dry for vacum and he can't pump it in to engine. No success.
What could be the problem? Should I start the engine and the oil pressure will appear?
Or with just spinning engine with starter won't get enough oil in to engine and pressure?

Any help and answer is waited! Thanks to all who will help me with this issue!

You should see at least 4 bar after 20 seconds cranking.

So I should just start the engine and after 20 seconds the pressure will appear?

No just starting with start motor. You can also remove plugs for more rpm.

if it was built up dry you may have to pack the oil pump with Vaseline to help it prime before starting...or there's a problem with the pickup?

I thought so too. I took off oil temperature sensor and put some oil inside.
When I took off the sensor, pump was dry. After putting some oil in and cancking few times, still no success.

Plugs are out too. Tomorrow will try again.

Very interesting, maybe with pickup is problem. After few second of cranking there should be oil in engine, at least in pump and turbo oil feed hoses. But everything is dry.

How are you measuring the pressure?

Cool, definitely wired up correctly? Appreciate it is dry inside, but maybe something to check anyways.

I *thought* this style of oil pump didn't require vaseline priming, only the more traditional style pump, the two rotor type, like on the Rover V8:

Reading on, it is recommending just filling with oil. I guess vaseline could be better if you were storing the engine for a while before startup.

Otherwie, any small leak in the pickup can be enough to draw air in rather than oil, and stop it priming.

Before everything assembling I put silicon seal everywhere. So should not be any air leak.
Maybe I just didnot put enough oil in toa the oil pump. Should put some more.

With wires- how the oil peassure sensor should be wired? There are two pins, one blue amd another grey or whitethe. I tried two different types and no moves on oil pressure gauge.

you have new arp main studs installed?
iff yes... check the one way valve behind the pressure sender.
i am sure you crushed the valve and no oil to the senders and head.

I do not have it. My oil system is modified. So I got rid of it.
