You need three inputs from your aftermarket ECU to your instrument cluster.
    1. Tachometer signal
    2. Fuel consumption signal
    3. Boost gauge signal

If you don't need those, or use external ones, then no problems arise at all.

Oil light, coolant gauge ant light, come from engine wiring, not from ecu. If you will remove all engine wiring harness, then you will need just to connect signal senders yourself.

Correct... And I very muc doubt an aftermarket ECU would provide the correct fuel usage signal anyway - which is no real beef for such a project as I'll but the goal is much more and torque than a stock application with the desire for a supported programming environment. Keep us posted on this one - especially regards usage of knock sensors as they don't generally get looked after in the aftermarket world.

Nice as i hear with a new ecu there is the added bonus of a variable rev limiter and these engines are good for 9000 rpm, thats what simon bainbridge had from his.

You can easily change the rev limiter on motronic cars...just some good knowledge in the motronic maps and the right software is required to know which value to change: just like disabling the anti-left-foot-braking thing on 1.8Ts. That is straightforward too!

I wouldnt rev the hydraulic tappets to 9k rpm!!! They dont like that a lot. Another trick setting is the coil soak time on the 3B

The distributor here in the U.S. told me that they "couldn't help me" after I ordered an introductory-priced LinkPlus. Whatever then. I'm getting an 034EFI now, for the stroker motor. I have Megasquirt to get together in a 10vt'ed Coupe GT as well.

This, I think is very exciting. The AEM stuff looks very flexible. Are you running one for another vehicle, plug and play style, or have they finally released their universal "race" wire-in version?
