I think that not everyone can easily change that... you must be advanced experienced for that and software cost is much higher then 3 aftermarket ECUs...Originally posted by LeeYou can easily change the rev limiter on motronic cars...just some good knowledge in the motronic maps and the right software is required to know which value to change: just like disabling the anti-left-foot-braking thing on 1.8Ts. That is straightforward too!
and that "some good knowledge" you will have after years of work with motronics, not in one day

yes it's better to get that ECU where you can get supportOriginally posted by auditudeThe distributor here in the U.S. told me that they "couldn't help me" after I ordered an introductory-priced LinkPlus. Whatever then. I'm getting an 034EFI now, for the stroker motor. I have Megasquirt to get together in a 10vt'ed Coupe GT as well.Comment

This pretty much sums up what I tell people every time they ask me how to tune their motronics themselves...
Anti-LFB programming, higher rev limiter, top speed limiter, and lots of other funny parameters (10 injectors on motronic for instance) are not a problem for me...

yes I think we all know that. On stock cars I only for motronic, but when we talk about high hp, competition, o more for drag like some dudes uses their cars and they are doing mods every month, week you can't be all over the world and tune at the same time, so more simple is to use aftermarket ECU with simple software interface...Originally posted by MihneaThis pretty much sums up what I tell people every time they ask me how to tune their motronics themselves...

I'd say that is too much information for me, at least the technical discussions.Originally posted by JamoEurgh, Megasquirt, had that in my old car, ditched it!
My mate is still running it, to be fair the information on the net is quite extensive.
I'm cheating with mine, I found an Audi guy running it already and had him assemble mine and install his maps on it.
That, and one of his MAC11 chips to run the ignition. Now that the clutch in the Coupe GT is slipping, I'm going to stop the insurance and put my parts in it. Even if the thing doesn't get back on the road, I at least want it holding the 10v turbo motor and trans so they aren't in the way of my more interesting 20vt activities.
Given the low Megasquirt cost and "third in order of importance" status of that particular project, I think it's my best choice for my extra extra car.
Wow! That's cool!Originally posted by zloboFinished with hocing the nira upp

So you can plug the aftermarket ecu right into the Motronic harness!
Now I want to get one of those connectors. Does anyone know where I can get that? I heard that the Motronic connector is the same as a connector used somewhere on the V8, not necessarily the engine ecu.
It would be nice to be able to somewhat switch between Motronic and aftermarket engine management, in my case 034EFI IIC, altho' I think they are still not able to time off the flywheel.Kenneth
