    7A electrics upgrade from 2pot ECU -> 4pot

    Hello mates,

I have a b4 with 7A engine, with first version of electrics, 2 pot ECU and Hitachi ISV
I want to ask if it is an important improvement if I install all the necessary stuffs from newer version of 7A:
    - 4pot ECU + all cables from electrics
    - ISV + vacuums
    - throttle body
    - intake manifold (I saw there are some little differences)

There will be some gains in power, torque , acceleration? Or is something very little gaining and is not worth?

    Thank you
    Mihai

I'm not sure if it would be worth the hassle to be honest. The Bosch ISV certainly doesn't add any power and neither does the intake manifold which is only different because of the plumbing for the ISV. The main difference for any power differences would be the tubular exhaust manifold you already have.

If you haven't already got the injector upgrade kit, that would be a VERY simple bolt on improvement over the old hitachi injectors and I'd be willing to bet more value than the ecu upgrade.

If you fancy a challenge go for it - I am guilty of doing things just for the sake of it sometimes but wiring is not my thing!

the later (4 pot ecu) has different tune because audi went with the cast exhaust manifold, instead of the tubular, some source said 5hp.
so later 4 pot version, but with tubular exhaust, injector upgrade, big maf, and chipped ecu. (i had one of this) different is noticeable, breaths better, respond quicker, feels better.
but i wouldnt do the harness swap now.

Thanks a lot for your feedback

My engine runs good (a little bit rich) has new ISV, new sensors, new dizzy, 034 injectors..but you know, always you want to squeeze some performance That's why o asked about new ECU, but I have to invest around 400eur in parts + a lot of work to be done. Think it is not worth anymore, in my case

Maybe it is better to go for bigger MAF and that it is. With bigger MAF from V6 I have to remap the ECU chip?

I wouldn't bother, too much work for little to no real gains. Remapped chips are easier to find for the earlier ECUs too.

If i still had my 7A, i would do the injector upgrade, then look into an aftermarket engine management system and learn to map it myself.

As Mcandmar said...I will do the same. I have 7A engine too, but i am not sure if the amount of money worth for a little bit increase of power. I rather go swap (3B,AAN) turbo engine or turbocharged a 7A with JE pistons and H or I conrods. I am still searching another 7A engine or OEM turbo engines, but to this time, nothing. I think that Coupe deserve much more power than a 125kW with a quattro
