  • ticking shims

Hello, I get quite annoyed when I thrash my car and the engine sits and ticks when I come to rest. today I had a chance to pass a new Aston which was trying I might add and when I got home, decamped and had time to take a photo of the 'prototype vehicle' my engine was ticking. Recent oil and filter change. Anyone recommend an upgrade?

Nice Aston, you may need to try a thicker oil is my guess.

My 7A has done this for over 100K miles, so personally I wouldn't worry that much about it, but if it does bother you, yes, you need to look at a slightly thicker oil, 10w50 maybe.

Keep the first number the same or you will lose cold start cranking speed.

Make sure the oil is on max when cold. Also use w50 or w60 oil, fully synthetic.
