    fuel pump

Hi peeps. My car stopped working and i finally traced it to the fuel pump not working. I have replaced it with a one supplied by Europarts. It runs now but it takes a while for it to start on a morning. Is the fuel system on s2 self bleeding or should i crack off the fuel pipe union on the fuel rail or is there a propper bleed point on them.Getting a bit peed off with it.Thanks.
IF it aint broke DONT! fix it

Are you sure its the correct pump and its fitted correctly to draw up fuel properly ?

There is no special fuel line bleeding procedure I'm aware of.

Have you tried a different fuel pump relay yet ?

I hope you also changed the fuel filter - maybe it is choking the system...

Good point also - there is a check valve in the FPR or pump itself and there is a specific test for 'holding pressure' in zee manual....

Thanks lads. Gringo it depends on how the car feels i think .It can start straight up sometimes and other times it turns for about 15-20 seconds before it will fire. Paul i fitted the pump and im sure its located correctly and the filter is only 1 month old at the most. Will the fuel relay cause this much of a problem?Just had it on a code reader and its thrown 2 codes out at me. The first is 00519 which is map sensor, hose leak, waistgate reg valve and fluid collector? where is the fluid collector? The 2nd one was 00513 which i think is rpm sensor. And just to pss me off a bit more the temp warning light has just reared its ugly head but my gauge is below 80.It seems the gremlins are working overtime ha ha.I would be very gratefull for some input on these things guys. Thanks. Simon.

Clear those faults, go for a drive and see if they return. They may be historical or current faults - do you get 00513 with the engine running ?

Not sure bout that paul just checked it without engine running. Will the engine running make a difference to the codes it throws out?We cleared the codes and i am taking it back to get them read again on tuesday.

same problem with my car i also think it holds no pressure because mine starts only after the third time.only when the engine is cold every morning.

                        At idle approx 0.5bar vacuum
                        On overrun approx 1bar vacuum

Assuming stock chips then 0.8bar max boost, with bursts up to 1.1-1.2 bar on overboost in high gears if its an ABY.

If your boost guage is in PSI, then tough **** - no seriously... 1bar = 14.5psi - get a calculator.

There must be something wrong then paul. I get 20psi vaccum on idle the same on overrun and and just less than 15psi on the throttle but it seems to flutter up and down a bit when its up there.
