Hello everyone. I was looking into getting one of these turbos for my 20vt project. I wanted to ask you your opinion on these turbos and the good and bad about both. What are the power capabilities of both? Which one of these turbos would have a better drivability? How would the lag be for the 2.2? I remember seeing Audi_CQ video with the GT61 turbo and the car just kept pulling and was very good on the top end. What is your opinion on this? BTW, My mods would be upgrade to stronger rods, 8.5:1 cr, tubular em,injectors, maf etc..
GT35R vs. Turbonetics GT61

Javad ran a gt35 compressor wheel with a large P trim turbine wheel and .82 a/r I think. It made good power. The GT35R is a much newer design then the turbonetics T61. The dual ballbearing centersection is really nice for quick spool up.
Here is the dyno chart of the 034efi high output turbo on JAVADs car.

The GT35R will spool quicker then this just due to the dual ball bearing center section. The P trim turbine wheel Javad has is physically larger then the GT35R tubine wheel, but the GT35R turbine wheel is a newer design then the P trim wheel and is a more efficient turbine wheel. Because it is physically smaller it will spool up even faster.
Hope this Helps.
Regards,
Justin

The GT61 is good for 600+ hpOriginally posted by caterpillarthe gt 35r you may get 550-600 hp,i dont think the turbonetics gt 61 can get so.....
KRB Trading has a 2.2 on their website(http://www.krbtrading.no look under Bilmerker and VW /Audi. Bottom of page) that has been dynoed to 613hp with a GT61

I would go with GT35R (0.86 trim), Been there tried that ... GT35R rocks ! very good spool up ... but beware of the big bad surge line

the compresor map is narow. You have to calculate what boost will work with your setup.AKmotorsport.net - Manufacturing Motorsport parts that do the job. | Audi S2 on Facebook | Best way of reaching me is sending email to albert@akmotorsport.netComment

What problem will this make using a GT35/40R on an ADU engine?Originally posted by Albertthe compresor map is narow. You have to calculate what boost will work with your setup.
Can't I use full boost from low RPM's. Like using a mecanikal boostcontroller set to 2bar?
What can be done to reduce the problem?
Cams, lower comp?.
Different ing. timing?
Was thinking about using this type of turbo on my car for 550hp, but starting to wonder if it is a good solution.:suspect: Yepp! I'm Odd :na:
