Having a think today, as I am amassing parts to do an RS2 on the S6

3" turbo back exhaust
7a ex cam
GT2 orange injectors
Dahlback inlet filter thingy
and a remap
but what plugs do I need?
and is there anything else I need to hide from the wife?

Paul: "A crankcase breather/cyclone system - especially if the above hoses aren't available in oil resilient 'flourosilicone' material"
Maybe someone could manufacture this as kit ? I would be glad to pay for it. Ofcourse the one who make them can make profit , np. I think a lot of us would buy it , as I still can't really understand what need to be done to make one.
Vadim.
New engine (mechanical PKM head) , Alcon 332mm brakes , Pauter rods , Mahle pistons, GT30R , kw v2 sucpension , new exhaust. 608HP. For SALE !
There was some talk of that being someway productised into a group purchase, but I don't think it took off yet. I've been thinking about it again recently, but I'm all GP'd out with the Samco activity.
Explain the crankcase mod please. All the other points yes I agree with, already planning the intercooler modifications although I didn't put it on the list and the Samco's.
Strange comment about the orange injectors though, got it from a very reliable source but then we were talking about my ur at the time so maybe I got it wrong? Wouldn't be the first time!!!
The crankcase breather mod isn't anything unusual in the world of modified cars.
The 20VT family engine runs a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system which is designed to be ever so eco-friendly in theory and have the engine consume any blow by gasses and oil vapour that is vented by the crankcase. This is done by hooking up the PCV hoses to the inlet manifold.
The complication of having a turbo on our engines means of course that the inlet manifold isn't always under vacuum (funny that). So our PCV system is designed such that when the engine is under boost, the crankcase fumes are vented to the hose which resides between the MAF and the compressor inlet. Clever cos thats *always* under vacuum, but very bad for performance as the ingested fumes increase air temperature and mess up the cleanliness of the air your engine just sucked in thru the filter. You'll also see oil collecting in the airways and the intercooler. Not nice.
All of which ironically means your engine is burning less efficently by polluting its own air supply. Try explaining that to the greenies !
Anyway to get round the problem you need a proper crankcase breather / cyclone and oil separator tank. You need two inputs - one from crankcase and t'other from cylinder head and two outputs - one at the bottom that returns collected oil to the sump and one at the top which vents blow-by gasses to atmosphere. The latter connection can also be hooked up elegantly to the exhaust system in such a fashion as to cause a vacuum effect with the exhaust system being able to suck these fumes out thru the exhaust system. Do a search here on 'evacusump'.
