No change in my running temp still running a few notches over 50. I am now going to change my thermostat. A few questions though. I had my car remapped while this was still happening would this have any affect on the fantastic work Mihnea and Doug done on my car? Should it improve the performance of the car now that the ecu knows it is warm? One more thing anybody got the part number for the thermostat? Isn't it possible to use one of these in the S2 then? My dad had a VW Caddy TDI 2003 and this was 90 degrees in no time and stayed there all the time too. With the fan kicking in and off in short bursts.Originally posted by S2central.netThe recent Audis run a more complex cooling system (with engine driven fans for one thing) and do have an uncanny ability to sit bang on 90C all day long regardless of traffic. The wifes A4 does this (until its stat failed a few months which I replaced and normal service was resumed).
Paul
Why? I have just replaced the stat and I am still running 50 degrees + 1 notch (at 5 degrees outside on the highway) like before and + 2-3 notches more when it is warmer outside.
Also are the ecu and gauge recieving the same signal from the same sensor?Comment

Just found these old posts.
My temp is a notch above 50 most of the time, but hits 90 sitting in traffic. It's been like this since I've had it as far as I can remember. Some earlier posts here said the fuel consumption would be horrific with the car running cool like this, but the computer reckons I'm getting 25 on long runs. My last (non S2) coupe was like this too...
Should I get the thermostat changed or just leave it as is?Irvin

Yes the S2's seem to have completely ridiculous calibrations on both temp gauges - stupid really - i mean 170'C oil temperature! Do me a favour

Well, thanks for the info, that's just crazy! I reckon mine is running at 85 normally, so it's probably fine.
Cheers.Irvin
