Hi i was thinking of fitting a k24 turbo to my completely standard s2. Is th original turbo the same? If it is not would this turbo make much of a difference to performance? Would i need anything else to be upgraded to do this? Thanks for your help

thought it probably would be the standard turbo
. Anybody got the k26 with a remapped ecu then? what difference has it made?

Search the forum, RS2 or K26 Hybrids are quite a common upgrade.Originally posted by stevieyidthought it probably would be the standard turbo

the chipping needs to be specific to your car, although you can run a generic one for the RS2. not recommended though.
The boys at MRC will be the best people to speak too, Lee, Doug_RS2 and Minhea, there all running modified Audi's and do the real time remapping specific to the car.

There are loads of different variants of the K26, the version from the MB URQ can't quite match a K24 for instance. If your after an upgrade i'd reccomend the RS2 unit. It really is very good, can produce lots of power with minimum lag with a good remap and was made specifically for the I5 engine.Comment

Agree with Martin - there are lot of K26 turbos which have less 'poke' than the S2's K24. I've said it before, and I'll probably have to say it again - the RS2 turbo is the best bolt-on turbo upgrade for the S2. Here's a rough shopping list for the RS2 conversion -
RS2 Turbo £400-£800 depending on source and if anyting needs fixed
RS2 exhaust manifold is £400 ish new
RS2 intercooler is also about £400 new
RS2 fuel injectors are about £40 each new
RS2 or 7A exhaust camshaft - anywhere from £50 to £500 depending on source
So thats £1500 ball park in parts alone, before you'll need an ECU upgrade with 3bar MAP sensor and remapped software to suit. That probably gets you into the territory of £2000 to do the job on top of whatever you need to pay a mechanic.
OK the gains are mighty versus the stock S2 with power in the region of 380bhp and torque over 550Nm if you like, but the price of the conversion is a considerable sum.

hi went up to billing yesterday with my brother. he was following me in his UR which has an s2 engine and an uprated turbo and remapped ecu. Mine is standard apart from my remapp. I need more power to catch him, his car is to quick for mine. Looking through this thread i wanted to no what u reccomend doing with regards an rs2 conversion. Could i for example get a RS2 turbo with the injectors and remapp around that? If i did this would everything work ok or would i need the bigger IC and the rs2 manifold?3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

You could probably get close to 320bhp ish with the RS2 turbo just bolted on- it is hard to say as the Inlet temps will rise quick and the S2 EM is not very good - but if you get the EM, better IC, better Exhaust cam and bigger injectors you can get more power and a lot more torque.
But then your brother was talking about more power and he will always have an advantage of being lighter!S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment
