    2.0l VW Golf won't start

I was hoping anyone could give me some ideas. I'm not getting a spark, the motor turns over strong. I have check the plug connector to the ignition coil and its seams fine then I picked up a new coil and swapped them out and nothing. I took of the wire to the coil and tried to get it to jump a spark and nothing. I tried to get it to spark to the distributor should I have tried off the block?

Another problem, the fuse to my Clock, Accessories and luggage lights keeps blowing. When I plug a new one in it lights up and blows instantly. I don't see how this could effect the car from not starting but should this be sorted out first?

    Thanx
    Andrew

I think that you need to look at that fuse problem first, because some of the vehicle control may have somehow be connected via that circuit, so try to fix that first. I would unplug the ECU and see if the fuse blows then. I have seen lots of ECU bad in golfs with 2.0, and sometimes some component that is shorted in the car causes short and may feedback to the ecu.

      If it's a MKIII Golf 2.0L (94-98) then I would go for the crank sensor (037 906 433 A).

Very common fault on these 2.0L engines.

I got the damn thing running today! the wire that was fried only effected the interior lights and kept tripping the alarm. The reason it wouldn't start was a fried ECU thanx BosnianS2

There are still some things to sort out... the daytime running lights turn on the tail lights and not the head lights , The speedometer doesn't work and the central locking doesn't work now.
