I'm soon going to reassamble my 3B engine, and first of all I'd like to know "if" I need to replace them? And if so, is there an upgrade for those bolts, instead of the original. And maybe better priced then VAG bolts.

Yes - they are stretch bolts and must be replaced. When buying a set - make sure and get all the same strength bolts as a mixed batch could lead to problems.
I ordered a set of Reinz bolts and you should be able to order them too via some 3 party spare part dealer. Reinz bolt set number is 14-32049-01 and the price is around 70e (~£45 inc vat).
When building a high power engine (>350hp) it might be a wise decision to go for studs and at least Raceware and ARP manufacture a set for the 20V fiver.
Latter ones are probably easy to purchase from some usa-car performance shop.
I've hear some rumors that ARP set includes a bit too small washers and some people use SportQuattro washers with their ARP set. P/N for the SPQ washers is 035 103 377. Martyn or someone could probably tell the price for those but they surely are not cheap for washers

I know that even if they do not list a particular part, as long as they handle that line, they will get you anything you want (at a great price).

Thanks man, I'm going to look in that.
You're welcome.
And if you are interested what's wrong with the arp washers is that they are too small diameter and tend to sink in the "soft" aluminium head and then the head gasket starts to leak...
give vag parts a ring. Thats where my bolts came from. But be warned there are two bolts using the same part number!!
One is 10.9 tensile and the other is 12.9 tensile (these are the ones you want). Martyn will know this anyway. Cant remember how much, as i never asked
