    Replacing timing belt, etc, AAN.

Looking for general BTDT advice from those in the know.

    Going to replace the following:

Timing belt, camshaft chain, water pump, auxilliary belt.

But what's the general opinion on replacing timing belt tensioner, idler roller, aux belt tensioner? Are these usually OK to reuse or are they generally fecked as well? In other words, do I just buy everything? It's not a job I want to be doing on a regular basis. The car is coming up for 150K miles.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Graeme.

Thanks, I'll add a crank pulley and woodruff key to the list.

There's a good "how to" on this on www.s-cars.org Alternatively get someone who knows the engine to do it for you as they should be able to do it quickly as well as having all the correct tools, therefore saving you expensive labour charges! Check your headgasket for leaks as well because many of the AAN engines weren't fitted with the metal gasket which can cause problems especially if you're upping the performance. Trust me I've been there and I chose to have it all done at once which wasn't as expensive as I imagined. You definately won't wanna have to do it all twice!!

If you're doing the timing belt for the first time, I'd recommend getting new associated nuts and bolts too. I found that butchers had been there before me when I first did mine.
