If you are using stock engine ECU, then better is to use recirculating.

Aye, if the valve and MAF are in the usual places you will need a recirculating valve. Otherwise there will be a difference between metered and actual air intake.

Modified or not I would take a recirculating valve (sometimes two are needed on big breathing engines). I don't see any advantage in an atmospheric dump valve... In fact there are performance advantages with the recirc one.

For sure . I have an atmospheric pop off valve even with the whistle - just to make it louder .

"I don't see any advantage in an atmospheric dump valve" dosnt it let pressure out of ur turbo or something stoping it overloading/blowing?

I have put a cone filter on my car and the sound is amazing! Is like those Sport Quattro sounds that you heard on throttle off! The noise was also with the original filter there but now it is much much louder!

Don't misquote me - it was in comparison to a recirculating dump valve.

Turbo engines need a dump valve to prevent turbo stall and possible damage between high boost gear changes.

I just think atmospheric DVs are flawed because the undo the work that the engine has done sucking air into the engine - the recirculating TBV is much more elegant in that it flows any remaining boosted air towards the compressor wheel between gear changes - reducing spool time for the next gear change.
