Cant really see the part number..Where can I get a k26/27?

There are many different K26/K27 units available and you need to be 100% sure that what you are fitting to your car will be ok (ie the turbo will match your engine) otherwise you could get in to all sorts of problems like surging and general poor performance as a result of a bad turbo/engine matchS2 Avant......fully loaded   Slipper Wagons Rule !!!!!Comment

If you decide to go for that unit, make sure it's not a K26 off an Ur quattro 10V (MB). If it is, your car WILL generate it's own fog patch, as the 10V engine generates more vacumn @ idle, enough to keep the oil from being sucked into the intake tract.

Vagsport, Do you know if there is any performance gains with this turbo? In the description is says: "If you are not familiar with the KKK K26 family of turbos, they are similar in size and efficiency to the famous Garrett T3, but have better long-term durability. The K26 #6 will flow enough air and produce enough boost to make 300hp. The K26 is efficient up to 15 pounds (psi) of boost, and on a 2.2L SOHC motor, is at full spool before 3000 rpm."
The S4 is a 2.2L turbo so I guess its ok.Comment

I fitted a K26 off an Ur quattro 10V (MB) to my S2 engine, and did it smoke! :eek2: It gave more power and torque than the original K24 unit, so I was a bit reluctant to remove it! After contacting a local turbo specialist, I bought a breather kit (cost me £25) and rigged it up to INCREASE vacumn @ idle. At high revs, there was no smoke without the breather, with the breather there was no smoke at all. But, if you have'nt bought that turbo yet, buy an RS2 one instead, that way you end up with a direct replacement. The modified breather I have described is only worth going for IF you are lumbered with the WRONG turbo with no chance of returning it.

It's funny the lack of knowledge it what scares everyone away.
I been doing a bit of research.
The compressor maps of a 944 turbo kkk part #s
532697042 are allmost identical to that of the Rs2.
The difference being this compressor housing is a 2670 vs 2672 of the Rs2.
And at the top of the map the 2670 seems to drop a little more than the 2672. Basically I can presume it lacks a little more air in the high rpms vs the Rs2.
The Rs2 exhaust turbine is a 6.12
The k24 exhaust turbine is a 6.13
I like saving my money therefore I do my research.
I don't know enough to comment on this thought.
Right now it's just a matter of putting a bunch of info together.
BTW.
Nice to see you on the list Tony.
I like to learn about my hobby as much as possible. I will be looking into this a bit more.
Cheers

Here is a nice link to check what your turbo is off if like me you buy not having all the relavent info.
my k26 is off a 944 so at least i know where to get gaskets etc although at inflated prices.

The 944 turbo mounts on the driver side, it mounts on the intake manifold I believe by connecting to the cold side housing. The air outlet to turbo is in the wrong spot to be used with audis.
The pictures are also backwards in the ebay pictures.
This turbo could work if the cold side housing was turned to a stock audi postion.I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro?Comment
