These are some bits I retrieved in the combustion chamber........The smaller alu bits are shavings from the compressor housing. The bigger bits look like hardend steel rings or something.
All piston rings were still in placeComment

And the results on those bitsComment
-
Here another picture of the bits. What can this be??

Could it be part of the bearing race from the turbo?? If your rings are all in tact then there's not much on the intake side that is hardened steel, maybe the valve guides but it doesn't look like them.

Might be the oil seal from the compressor side. They look like a bit like a steel c clip and are very hard. The turbo guy should be able to tell you if its still there. Also i always locktite the nut on the shaft since i had a similar thing happen on a turbo i built. The interccoler should be reverse flushed!Comment

*update*
I'm picking up my cranck-case tommorow. The machine shop honed the bore clean, to get rid of all the schratches of the debris. Luckeliy no oversize.
This weekend I'm putting it back together, and back in the car again. Monday I can pick up my turbo. I had it fixed for now so then I can at least drive.
After reading some stuff @ motorgeek about original SQ and pikes peak turbo's, I saw that those turbo nuts were locked with Redloctite. So My nut is locked with redlictite aswell
lets hope it stays on this time.
There was a guy there that had exactly the same event happening to his car. Same turbo and the nut came off after a few runs WOT after installing the turbo to his car.
I also bought a big-@ss tial BOV 50 mm. The forge that I had, could also be a reason why the nut came off. I had one forge on there, and there was some turbo chattering at lower rpm, but at WOT high rpm lifting-off no compressor stall at all. But just to be sure, I fitted the Tial. And it sure will sound bloody loud
So next week I'm back on track, and I cant wait to do some more measurements and see the dyno plot.
I also ordered an oil cooler from earls 17 x 30 cm that comes in the front grille like Mark has. It will arrive in a few weeks.
So next week I'm back with some movies I hope and a dyno plot from the RR.

Sounds good Jeffer, good luck getting it all back together! If all is well from putting it back together sounds like it wasnt too bad or too painful on the wallet!
Look forward to seeing some vids of it in action!!Ant

Glad too hear it too Jeffer. I get turbo stall on mine, and its been doing it for months now, without any problems of the nut coming off.
Good luck, cant wait to see some videos soon
