Low boost at low RPM

Graham had this problem. Turned the car inside out trying to find the problem and it turned out that the maf wire had snapped

Crisis adverted, as Porkkis says that is right on the button for boost.

If you want it boost earlier, speak to MRC boys about a stiffer wastegate spring.

Also you may consider rechipping.

Who was the car chipped by?

How could a stiffer wastegate spring make it boost earlier? I thought it only affected the max boost!?

It should not increase max boost if it's not way too stiff. The thing is that WG is opened by ECU using the WGFV. It lets pressure under the diaphragm and this pressure raises the WG valve. On the other side of the diaphragm is the spring. Before ECU wants to limit the boost the WG is being hold closed only with the spring. Exhaust pressure in the EM may open the WG slightly therefore a stiffer spring may have an influence.

A stiffer spring can be also "simulated" pneumatically by applying pressure to the upper side (spring side) of the WG chamber. Only a limited amount of course or the WG will never open. It works. This pressure should be taken from the underside of WG and limited with pressure restrictor valve.

But as you say the effect is minor so the thing is the turbo affect this most or?

No, theres nothing wrong with you car, we're trying to establish what works been done on your car.

The chip is important, previous owner will know, injectors just open the bonnet and see if the tops are green.

The RS2 turbo boosts at 3500rpm by standard, to get it to boost before then means a rechip and a new wastegate spring.

Where's Doug_RS2 when you need him?

The chips are not orginal as I understand, it's a small lable on the chip with a hand wrote B on one and the other a T. The injectors is black so it's orginal or?

Do anybody have a dump of the orginal proms (BOSH 0261200484 box)?
