    oil overfill

thanks to an overzealous dumbass RAC person, my car was overfilled with oil by over 1ltr, possibly more. I didnt know it had been overfilled until i got home after a 330mile trip. I know this is bad bery very bad ive since dropped the oil and filter and replaced. On the way home i thought i saw puffs of blue smoke from the back but thought i was seeing thinhs as the rear window was filthy. Buuuut...it is smoking, lots of blue smoke on start up, not sure about when its actually moving though. I know the breather system is gonna be minging with oil now and theres a good chance my cats are borked The rocker cover gasket was leaking slightly before but since the overfill seems WAY worse. The plan is to change the rocker cover and at the same time try and clean out the breather pipes as best i can, (also replce the black plastic swirl/breather pot on the right hand side of the engine.
Any suggestions as to what i can use to flush the breather system?
    Cheers in advance

What happened to force you to need an RAC hoon to be filling up with oil?
    Good luck!

not out of choice beleive me, car packed up when i was up north a few weeks agom couldnt diagnose so phoned rac, he came out talked a load of rubbish about it being the ecu, and said there was nowt he could do, it would need to be relayed to a garage. I went into the house to get qrsports addy, came out and he mentioned something about topping up my oil, but my fault entirely for not checking then and there but i was panicking about my car being terminal.
Turns out it was the fuel pump after all that, buuuuut im now left with a smoky joe s2 avant thanks to the ineptitude of some **** in an overgrown orange babygrow

It will clear itself out after a while, just give it a good blasting and that should drag the oil out of the breather, it may take a while tho. But your right, it isnt the best thing for the cats, get the car on a gas analyser and check the cats are still working. If they arent then time to put a claim into the RAC.

Does it mention on his sheet that he topped the oil up?? I would be claiming for the labour of cleaning the clogged breather system if i was you.

Fuel pump failure - I had exactly that about 18months ago on my S2 - the RAC chap then diagnosed it correctly right to the pump in the tank just using his brain and a voltmeter. They put me on a flatbed and drove the car to the garage of my choice.
Sounds like you got a bad rescue-man.

to be honest the guy was a plum, he opened the bonnet and asked if it was a diesel? the annoying thing was he said hed tested the pump and was fine so we didnt check it till till last when i got to Tims. Weird though as it gave no symptoms of failing whatsoever, switched it off on the drive, went back to it later to move it and it wouldnt start.

My fuel pump failure happened whilst in the middle of a rather large roundabout in Hatfield - blooming scary it was, and like you, absoloutely no symptoms of any potential failure: no whining, no cut outs, no hesitations. One minute, I had power, next minute, trying to pull away from the lights, the car stalls at about 10mph and won't start again. Whammo.

Once I'd pushed the car off the roundabout and in to the central grass reservation, with the help of a surprisingly helpful policewoman who bizarrely just happened to arrive on the roundabout at the time of my expiry, I felt a little less exposed to certain death yes! It was then just a question of waiting for the RAC - fortunately (!) because of my "high risk" location, they arrived in about 10mins.

Yep, I had a sudden terminal fuel pump failure last year - but I was only five miles from home. Flatbed to garage and running soon after. P155E5 you off though!!!

Deep joy, spent all this afternoon changing the rocker box gasket and cleaning out the breather pipes etc etc, put it all back together to watch oil run from the head onto the gearbox, headgasket has gone on the top left corner. Luckily its not got hot at all so im hoping i can get away with just changing the gasket. Fingers crossed

Are you going to put a metal gasket in to replace it?
