I have an ABY engine and have a serious water leak but can't tell where it's coming from. Have checked all visible pipes around rad etc. It only happens under pressure after the fan cuts in and then can stop as quickly as it started. It is dropping down the side of the sump if that helps? Any ideas before I start stripping it down? Thanks

Assuming its not your rad(s) or hoses leaking, your next check is the small coolant pipe sections ( two) underneath the thermostat housing ( on the RH side of the engine as you look at it ). You will need to remove the PAS/Brake pump and the thermo housing. Buy a new thermostat whilst you are in there ( and O ring ). The stealers can sell you offcuts from the "official" hose size or a good motor factors can do it much cheaper. Use the best hose clamps you can find. Getting the hoses on is not funny. Reckon on 3-4 hours for the whole job. Good luck. James. -
What about the Auxilliary Water Pump? Plastic cylindrical item, sits low down rear of the main Radiator with 3? pipes attached. Mine went and sent water down right (as you look at front of car) side of the Sump.
Worth a look!
